NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 31. Bulk reel: 377 Weather: Slightly cloudy. On site 5:25 AM; just clouded over, had been clear. First sounds ~ 5:34 AM, quiet "ao" calls by bird on slope above path. These became louder 3-4' later and then the bird just below the path started loud "ao" calls. The "new" bird left without displaying, sailed down toward where other bird had been calling and had just displayed. It started calling there, then apparently sailed progressively down the slope. This was ~ 5:55 AM. "Ao" calls by two birds; bird just below the path is in focus. This bird then gives a conflict growl, then flew with a "flight scream" and also a display. In its new position it called "ao" a few times before I focused on it, then gave one "ascending series whistle" (recorded), then after ~ 1 1/2 ' silence gave a display (recorded). Suitable for graphing. Then continue in new position, calls and display by two birds. Then focus on a bird in full view. This is different from bird previously in focus. Gives "ao" calls. Notes re: 29 May: Birds far down slope this AM. The only activity was a little calling @ 5:32 AM, then @ 5:05 AM one display. No activity heard after that. Note: a very heavy storm last night starting ~ 12:00 PM and all bird activity depressed this AM.
