Observation details
Found by Alan Belford and other Adirondack birders this evening. When I arrived it was on the ground in the middle of a mowed strip on the north side of the road, facing away from me. From behind I could see a white rump and the folded tail was black, black wing tips, whitish supercilium. I snapped a quick photo but it flew before I had a chance to study it well. It returned to this field 15 minutes later and I saw it from the front, noting the bright buffy underparts, but again it flew after a couple of minutes and I didn't see it again.
