Observation details
Yes, it is confirmed by myself (Dianne Cooper, eBird reviewer, East Kootenay region) and others that your shorebirds are: Stilt Sandpiper, juveniles This one is tougher to explain, but as with most other sandpipers, the key is to try to ignore plumage and focus on proportions Compare the length of the bill to the width of the head Compare the length of the legs to the length of the body – maybe try to imagine how long the legs would be if they were parallel with the tail (as in flight): would they extend past the tail? Be the same length as the tail? Or shorter? Those are the main ones in this case.
