NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 12. Bulk reel: 256 a) natural vocalizations. Note that in this region are found only the cruentatus-type birds. Quality: 1-2. Level: +5. Two birds responded to playback; one was collected (= female #6862); sex of other could not be seen. After collecting this bird the other could not be interested by playback. b) Recordings made later. Quality: 1-2. Level: +12. c) 5:35 PM. Birdds sang naturally (see Cut 12b of Crypturellus noctivagus). Then I played back that recorded "song" and the following recordings resulted. Note: Near end of Cut 8 of Ara severa is a drum that is probably of the present species. d) 4/XI/68 9:00 AM. Weather: Fair. Natural vocalizations. First is a long continued session. Quality: 2. Level: +12.
