Observation details
Great find by Dave Haupt! At previously reported area in second pond to the south on Ken Hays Trail. At south end of second pond at the edge of ice, frequently going into reeds. Luckily the reeds are not too deep and with the ice the bird is funneled into a specific area. Pin is here: 42.212809,-121.788378 Coot-like rallidae on the water with small head, downward pointed bill, chestnut colored back, dark blueish below with white undertail coverts. Edit: Also that white flank line.
