Observation details

Roosting by the deck on the bayleaf tree. I heard it hoot a few times during the day but could not spot until now when the Scrub-Jays raised an alarm. At some point, she flew to the eucalyptus tree and then started vocalizing - very different call ( not hooting) - now I know it’s a „ female call” and it worked because after 10 min - a smaller GHO ( male) suddenly flew in and perched on a pole right under my deck and we had a staring contest for about 2 minutes and then he flew off to the nearby tree. A magic moment for sure. I heard these two owls hooting during the night and the next day the same female showed up on the redwood tree by the deck.
