Observation details
Lifer! After not seeing one around Merida, I was walking down the road here and heard one calling. Some of the call notes are very reminiscent of Red-winged Blackbird to me. The tree where the calls originated was right alongside the road so I looked up and was able to find a single adult male euphonia with a dark throat sitting out on a branch.
