Observation details
Misidentified last month but correctly ID’d via photos by John Garrett, who sent out an alert recommending folks to go find the bird. Large grayish flycatcher with larger bill, tail and overall size compared to a western wood pewee. Perched on top of trees with an upright posture. Head had a slight bushy/messy crest and the lower mandible was orange. First spotted perched on top of an oak (34.1772622, -117.9902713) while the canyon was shaded, but once the sun moved in it flew to other trees. Spotted a second time here (34.1764902, -117.9913713).
