Observation details
1st cycle ICGU (kumlieni) seen very well & photographed perched in the evening gull roost. Noticeably larger than nearby RBGU & smaller than all nearby HERG. Round headed, with a relatively small, dark bill (some pale at the base), showing a minimal gonydeal angle on the lower mandible. Very pale appearance, with very light brown/khaki markings on upperparts. Some light gray feathers were visible on the mantle & scapulars. The wingtips at rest were basically white, with faint khaki markings to the tips of the primaries. Seen well in flight 3x, as the gull roost reshuffled. Striking, nearly white (well, off-white) gull at a distance. Light khaki markings on back & scaps barely visible. Khaki inner webs & pale white outer webs to flight feathers clearly visible, particularly the outer primaries. Lightly barred uppertail coverts & a light khaki tail band. From below, the primary & secondary flight feathers appeared completely translucent, while the coverts were slightly darker khaki. Photo attached
