Observation details

A delightful find by Emily and Michael. A medium sized owl, long rounded wings, erratic moth like foraging flight over the dune grass and shrubs along the south beach of the lower harbor. Brownish upperparts, white flat face, streaky neck and breast and white belly and underwings with a contrasting black wing tips and comma mark on edge of underwing coverts. Unfortunately it attracted the attentions of a flock of crows and they chased it across the harbor where we lost it near Founders Landing.
