Observation details
Together. All first winter. Small, black bill; round head, appearing short and stubby compared to Herring; pale wingtips; much lighter plumage than Herring, nearly white with dirty, grayish-brownish "scales" on most of body. I noticed two gulls with pale wingtips on water with A. Herring Gulls--too distant for good looks or photos. Before I could get closer, the whole group of gulls took flight (possibly spooked by a pickup truck.) They flew fairly close overhead for good view and I watched four(!) Iceland join together, circle a few times, then head west along the dike. I only managed one poor digiscoped photo.
