嘴喙跟腳脛深色，頭頸後有黑色縱線，翼上覆羽有棕色斑塊，都是1st winter幼鳥的特徵 如同BOW描述，是種覓食行為像鴴類的鷗，快速在魚塭內行走並撿拾死蝦去泡水，然後肢解吞食
