Observation details

Heard distinctive hard warbler calls that I thought were either a very late MacGillivray's or something exotic and tracked them to an obvious female Mac. Stockier and more wren-like than orange-crowned with heavier and blunter-tipped pink-gray bill. Olive above, deep yellow below, with pale gray hood and throat, thick white eye arcs. Call, structure, and face pattern unlike OCWA. Thick eye arcs, gray throat, and call unlike Mourning. I don't think any of my attempted photos came out (maybe), but I obtained call recordings that should be diagnostic (and that Merlin corroborates). On wet ditch, here:37.27131, -115.11833. I returned several times and continued to hear it call intermittently, but from heavy cover well into a thicket/inaccessible.
