Observation details

A surprise for this location and a new SD Co. bird for me (I'm visiting from WA state). Immature bird first seen in narrow channel a couple hundred yards from the Rios St. parking area (heading inland take the first left trail fork you can). Bird observed loafing on the mud bank and viewed from about 30 meters away for 10 mins, periodically calling (crappy iPhone recording taken) and eventually flew off toward I-5 but I didn't see where it landed if it did. Dark underwings observed in flight. Barred tail sides with dark center line (visible in photo).
