Observation details
We were astonished to see the one loon still in some of its darker breeding plumage with friends! Large, bodied loons with upturned yellow bills. The two lighter individuals were deeper brown in color with barring on their back. They were not showing so much white as tan-cream tones on the neck and throat. The eye was visible with lighter coloring around, and the prominent fore knot was evident. These were seen off Point Roberts Reef about 1/2 mile SE of the Lighted Buoy. This is is within 1/2 mile of where I saw the breeding plumage bird a few weeks ago.
