Observation details
*rare and first eBird record for north shore; part of a small incursion over the last few days with multiple reports, so I was hopeful for this species today. this bird came in from the west (apparently) and briefly circled over the tidal outflow of the marsh, then seemed to head east, over the marsh and away. I nearly missed it due to being needlessly waylaid by some person with a dog who wanted to ask me about who-knows-what just as the bird appeared! Then fortunately I saw it fairly well and documented it with photographs: a Petrochelidon swallow with darker forehead and pale buffy/orange throat; contra. CLSW which should have the opposite (white forehead and dark throat). Excellent patch bird after a few autumns of coming up short.
