Observation details
Continuing in the riparian at 1650 Stage Road. I started at the old sapsucker stakeout and walked South along Stage Rd. The small riparian area on the East side of Stage was fairly active. I eventually found the BAWW in the largest tree, left of the gated entrance to 1650 Stage. Bird was in with Chickadees, YRWAs, HUVIs, and RCKIs. It was walking as nuthatches do along the larger main branches and trunk of the tree and probing through lichen and Spanish moss. Black and white striped back, clean white throat (female type), black spots on white undertail coverts, and a longish pointed bill. I saw it on two occasions on the same tree and in the same branches. It was tricky morning light and fairly dense in terms of cover, but I managed a few ID photos which I’ve attached. There was some light correction applied to the images.
