Observation details

Poor photos. Flew over at close range at 2:50 while I was on the east spur trail. I immediately noted an obvious red eye and a slightly pinkish facial skin and quickly switched to photos. I thought it had put down so I went over to see which pond it had landed in; evidently it either kept going or picked up shortly thereafter, because about 15 minute later Michael O’Brien reported it from Cape May Point. I was initially unsure if it could be a hybrid given my brief views, but evidently others got better views and photos.
