Observation details
At the feeders of Kathy and Ray Tucker. Fourth day per Kathy. Photos. ID as this species relatively straightforward. Only similar species from a continental US perspective are White-eared and Rivoli's Hummingbirds. White-eared differs in several respects, including shorter straighter bill and stronger white malar, as well as being more greenish below. Rivoli's is a much larger hummer with less black/dark blue in the tail and green spots on the ventral body.
