Media notes
One member of the third pair of Craveri's Murrelets that we saw on this leg of the trip, here photographed by Curtis A. Marantz on 16 July 2017 at 33° 12' 40" N, 119° 45' 53" W, which is approximately 19 km west-southwest of the western tip of San Nicolas Island, Ventura County, California.
Observation details
At least seven Craveri's Murrelets encountered during this leg of the trip were identified on the basis of their apparently longer tails relative to those of the Scripps's Murrelets we had seen, a line of demarcation that extended straight backward across the face without an upward indentation of white, and on at least some of these birds, extensively blackish underwing-coverts and a spur on the side of the breast when they took flight.
