Observation details
Right where I have been hoping to find it, in the dogwood. That tree is fruiting and has had red eyed vireos several days so far this fall. I have long noted that vireos like dogwoods, especially this time of year. This bird was noticeably smaller than the red eyes, had smallish bill with a gray crown, pale supercilium, and a darker eye-line that extended from the bill through the eye, and includes the lores. Also lemony throat, paler belly with a little bit of yellowish in the undertail. It moved around the yard and I was eventually able to get some poor pics.
