Observation details
Good video, Cont. Has made a nest type bed of weeds near a small point at back of pond. Down feathers strung out for 20 feet and a large primary at edge of bedding. There were also primaries on the algae/water yesterday near the road. I see nothing that would indicate clipping. I took video thirty feet away of it cleaning stretching out full length with its head in the water and then rising up flapping its wings to stretch. I'll put this on my facebook page and youtube tomorrow evening. I googled molting for Mute Swans and that confirmed July and August is when they molt. I see nothing wrong with it other than molting. We've all seen crows and hawks fly with 1/3 of the primaries missing and wonder how.
