Observation details

*Rare* - continuing. “Rackrack” call and cooing of the pair heard a few times. Also heard 2-3 distinct birds repeatedly giving what matches juvenile calls in the Macaulay Library for the entire duration of my visit. Based on my observations of these birds at this location over the last three months (male and female present all summer, now there are 2-3 additional birds making juvenile calls), I am coding FL. Angela and I initially found these birds on 5/10, and we both spent a lot of time stalking them this summer. While I would like to see these absurd little alien fledglings, pretty awesome to confirm them as a chesco breeding bird!

Additional species

  • Red-winged Blackbird Agelaius phoeniceus
  • Barn Swallow Hirundo rustica
