Observation details
Initially thought that this was some sort of hybrid and received several theories on who may have been responsible. Turns out that it's a Chestnut Teal - a species in Australia. This one is almost certainly an escapee from someones exotic collection. BWTE sized (between GWTE and ABDU). Black undertail coverts bordered by white. Brown flanks with mottling. Greenish hue to head with bright red eye. Bill was bluish gray. In flight there was a prominent white bar across the secondaries, no white in the primaries.
