Observation details
First photo (of bird out of focus) is obviously not definitive, but does show bright pink legs, which seems to favor Abbott's over Horsfield's. However, I was with several other birders at the time, including Chien Lee. Chien got two fantastic photos and posted the sighting to iNaturalist (record can be found here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/128914899). Chien's two photos are included here with his permission. The photos show a lack of any breast streaking. Chien noted that the lighter crown favors Abbott's. He also said, "Furthermore, the habitat for this bird was in mangrove/freshwater swamp and Nipah, very close to the coastline, whereas Horsfield's is typically encountered in lowland and hill forest. Also, our bird responded to Abbott's call playback."
