Observation details
Presumed first state record (if accepted by WRBC) - first noticed when scanning flooded field, first impression was American Black Duck, but quickly realized it wasn't. Darkish, warm brown body contrasting very sharply with a warm, pale buffy head and face. Very distinct dark crown and dark eye-stripe. Throat unmarked. Bill orange, with faint dusky marking on culmen. Distinct black spot at base of the gape (key for species) which was clearly lacked by the Mallards. When flapping, the speculum was dark purplish-blue and with seemingly no white line.
