Observation details
Continuing rarity in northwest corner of Bodega Harbor as seen from the pullout at Whaleship Road and then at farthest north end of Spud Point Marina. Despite the fog, initially noted a large loon that was sleeping with it's head tucked. Noted the scalloped back which set it apart from a nearby Common Loon. It took awhile waiting for the loon to wake up but when it did, noted a very large, yellow bill with a distinctly upturned lower mandible. Photos taken showing common loon on the left , yellow-billed on the right.
