NOTES: Aerial displays by a male (strangely late in season). Bird was very restless. Also flight call Annct. 5:40occassionally sounds from 1 or 2 other birds that temporarily joined it. 7:22 "2 bird chase"Also: water, wind sounds made recording difficult good prreet calls at end, and helicopter wind-up[A long recording with a variety of vocalizations, but the quality is not all that good for much of it due to distance from the birds and excessive wind noise. That said, I include notes only on the better examples of each vocalization. Much of this appears to represent "Chatter" associated with the flight display, often not associated with "Rhythmically Repeated Calls" but regularly with calls that appear typical of the flight calls given during migration. There are two relatively good series of "Rhythmically Repeated Calls" (1:01-1:09, 4:38-4:46) and a relatively good example of a "Chatter" (5:48-5:53). I am not sure whether four soft "peep" calls (7:29-7:35) were given by this species or instead Calcarius lapponicus. The last part of the recording contains a few good "Trilled Alarm Calls" before the helicopter starts up (7:49-7:53); anohter good example of this call is at 2:50. Terminology follows Miller et al. (1988. Ornis Scandinavica 19: 257-267) and BNA account. Quality added (2-3, 2 in a few places) - CAM - 3 December 2004]. Habitat: Pond.
