Observation details
We found them at this gps location. 64.849235,-166.086932. We did go back with 2 other groups later in the day and we were unable to relocate. Bird was initially found the day before by a French birder, Paul Maury who didn’t report it apparently because he didn’t know how good of a bird it actually was for the US. We happened to just strike up a conversation earlier in the day when I asked if he had seen anything unique and he told me about the dotterel. After a brief discussion our group decided to chase it and see if we can refind it, which we did. Both birds appeared to be females. Paul said they had found them about 2-3 kilometers from the parking area. We found it a lot closer which infers they could be covering a large area.
