Individual #2 (first molting bird)
Observation details
The first individual came in just as we were deploying the chum past the shelf break, it looked fresh but had a gap in each wing, while we were drifting hoping this bird would come back another individual that was actively molting came to the slick and flew around a number of times, another fresh looking bird with a few new primaries came to the slick next - we have gone back and forth about the possibility of it being the same as the first individual, but the bill and face looked different and there were other small differences in the cowl and underwing pattern. Finally there was another molting individual that visited the slick that looked mostly dark above with matching white patches on the upperwings. There are photos of all individuals, though I personally only have images of two. - Kate Sutherland
