Observation details
Pigeons show up at my feeders about once every five years. When I saw this bird, I knew that it looked unusual. I thought "ooo, Eurasian Collared Dove" (having forgotten exactly what they look like). A quick check of Sibley showed that wasn't right. After a bit more staring and a photo, I convinced myself that the bird was a rock pigeon (feral pigeon) and reported it as such. However, after getting back from Oregon, where I saw Band-tailed Pigeons, I rechecked the photo. I'm now pretty sure that's what this bird is. The size and shape is right, the dark eye, the white mark on the nape, the yellow bill with the black tip, the yellow feet and legs. So - on 8/31/15, I'm revising this report.
