Observation details
Resting on the water. I have no idea who named this duck species "Ring-necked Duck". The main distinguishing field marks don't show a ring around the birds neck (like in the case of a Mallard drake or a Ring-necked Pheasant). In other words, its clearly a poorly chosen name for this species. A more appropriate name would have been "Ring-billed Duck".
