Observation details
HOMEOWNERS ARE AWARE OF BIRD AND ARE FINE WITH PEOPLE WALKING AND PARKING ON THE ROAD. PERMISSION HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN TO ENTER PRIVATE PROPERTY. First reported by John Mills on ebird on July 2nd. Present today during period of this Checklist at 13070 Prairie Road in Rudyard, MI. First present in willows on south side of Road, then on powerline on North side of road. Later flushed to line running from main powerline to house. Larger dove similar to MODO, but with bold white lower edge to wing visible at all times. Blue orbital ring with red iris. Overall tan bird, underside of tail with three bars of white, black, light gray. Song somewhat like a bad impression of a barred owl. In flight large white wing patches, and rounded tail lacking long central tail feathers. Pics and recording below.
