Observation details

*rare. First county record found by Dan Stoken! Drove up from Missoula and immediately got eyes on it through the scope, thanks to the crew Dan S., Craig H., Shawn R., and Rod W. Tiny loon that seemed slightly smaller than a RNGR. At times, the distance made it challenging to distinguish as a loon at all. Difficult to get photos, but managed a few poor ones. I first saw it NW of the Polson Bridge and watched it move consistently farther out NE. Did not dive once throughout the entire time viewing. Likely a juvenile because the neck and face were relatively dusky compared to a basic adult. Lifer!
