Observation details

Flushed on the ridge trail at 10:30 am. Five or maybe six birds. Rattle call confirmed by Merlin. Up and left toward south. Frequencies of the rattle call in the spectrogram extend up to at least 5.2 kHz, supporting Smith's against Lapland. In-flight photos show buffy underparts with streaks and strongly suggest two white outer feathers on each side of the tail. Both features also support Smith's against Lapland.
