Observation details

Exact location. Adult. This is the 4th winter we have seen a Harlan’s hawk in this area (since winter ‘21-‘22). Likely the same individual because the plumage and habits are so similar, even sitting on top of the same trees. Overall this hawk is dark and bulky. It had a whitish-grey tail more grey toward the tip, a dark underwing and body with white mottling in upper breast and a white forehead. Bare tarsus. Skittish, remains distant. I’ll add poor photos.
