perched adult bird; scarce migrant in this area;
Observation details
[1100m] started with what seemed to be a flock of six silent birds flying in from the north, presumed to be the one and five found a little while later around the main pond, some perhaps seen moving farther south, then, 3-4 birds in the riparian cienega, a couple of which were much brighter than the very dull birds seen so far (only a couple having yellow, and that a small area), then 3-4 back by the main pond, a couple of which were too bright to be the original group, final figure of nine something of a guess at a "fair" minimum number present; generally rather quiet, some chip notes from a few perched birds, and a few buzzes perched and in flight, but many flights and much perched time silent (recorded); the first six seemed like especially dull juveniles, other birds, e.g., at least three with extensive rufous shoulders presumably b.p. males, a couple of these birds and another especially bright yellow below, most of the underparts; also odd was this large number on what seemed otherwise a rather depressed migration day;
