Observation details
Traill’s flycatcher located foraging low in thick brush along wetland impoundment at Patriots Point. Green/olive back, thin but complete eye-ring more noticeable at back of eye, rounded head, whitish throat, pale yellow on lower belly, two bold wing bars, medium primary projection. Mostly staying in very low brush vocalizing with continuous peep/peet calls and a few times displaying upward tail flicks. In an attempt to further distinguish the flycatcher I played brief playback, the bird was very responsive to Alder peet call and called back with the same single note call. The flycatcher was still present when I left, I relocated what I believe to be same flycatcher 2 days later (9/15) however it was not vocalizing.
