Media notes
Photo by David W. Nelson Photo in the Myoporum laetum tree up the north slope, above the Blue Gum Eucalyptus trees, east of the smaller Coast Live Oak trees up the slope from the west end of the level asphalt Pine Lake trail. Viewed from the top of slope off Wawona St. at 33rd. Ave. 3:30PM.
Observation details
We observed this amazing bird with quick glimpses of it as it slowly worked its way counterclockwise around Pine Lake. It stayed mostly in the thick willows between the trail and the lake. It was also seen in the reeds on the north edge of the lake. It was doing the normal redstart behavior of flaring its tail. It had dark/black upper parts with a rusty cap on its head. Its face was dark/black and did not have any white eye arcs. Its chest and belly were red.
