NOTES: Kirtland's Warbler #3 (see map in log book) No. songs: ll / lll / llll w llllllllllliv. /(2.25) llllllllllll w llllll /(4.55) scold ,,,, / l llllllllll (blips) /(6.25) v. clean after 2.25 scold after playback Recorded from S. boundary of woodlot. Also heard: another kirtland's W., wind, fly, H. Dahme "hold it" Q 2-3, 2, 1-2 [Forty-nine songs by the closer bird, all essentially of the same song type as those in LNS #61273 and 61274. The five songs at 5:12-5:25 appear to represent the "Chatter Songs" of BNA (or Second Category songs following Spector. 1992. Wood-warbler song systems: a review of paruline singing behaviors. Current Ornithology 9: 199-238). There is a "cryptic" stop-start at 3:21. Quality added (2, 1, 3-2 - most of this is quite good apart from some soft hiss, there the first song is not as good and the brief part with the "Chatter Songs" is quality 3-2) - CAM - 12 July 2005].
