Observation details
Initially had walked nearer to the lake to photograph the Canada Goose and discovered a drake Eurasian Wigeon. I was able to get several other Barrow Shorebird Crew members on the bird afterwards. Same size as the American Wigeons it was loosely associating with (one AMWI appeared to be a hybrid). Bright red head with golden-buff forehead and crown patch. Cold gray upperparts and paler gray flanks. White lower belly and black tail. Pastel rose breast. Blue bill with black nail and commissure. A very striking bird! Interesting to note I had found a drake Eurasian on June 7 last year.
