Observation details
Feeding in piles of seaweed at water line on beach side between mile 23 and 24 of Nome-Council Highway. Associating with large foraging group of red-necked phalaropes, surfbirds, ruddy turnstones, rock sandpiper, sanderling, and other shorebirds. Medium sandpiper with medium-length straight bill, heavily black spotted/streaked breast, rufous scapulars, white underbelly and prominent chevrons/spotting on sides. Great unexpected find!
