NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 11. Bulk reel: 44 In the period 6:00 -7:15 PM I heard no owls in this spot. Started raining @ 7:05 PM. At 10:30 PM I returned and heard nothing during 15 min. and so tried playing the field tape. Was surprised when the reaction close at hand was by choliba (see Cut 7, that sp.). Guatemalae was then heard farther up on hill. After the choliba was collected, I succeeded in bringing close a guatemalae, the same "low" voiced bird, I believe, as before (north side). In background is heard another "low" and it and one song by a "high" that seemed to be ~ same as the "high-high" of the other evening. I got the impression that there was inter-species intolerance between choliba and guatemalae and that choliba was dominant in this particular area tonight. I can't explain the lack of choliba on previous nights. Quality: 1. Level: +5. 7.5" & 15 ".
