NOTES: (Time: 0745-1005. Gen. Climate: Wet. Gen. Habitat: See pp. 307 & 308 of Studies of Mascarene Island Birds, ed. A.W. Diamond.) After we realized that the nest was finished (see notes LNS 58693), I played back his own song from the day before. This elicited an extended response with some previously unrecorded calls and a zip (or rip) call again. It is noticeable that when compared with yesterday (LNS 58692) there are fewer spp calling. Field annotations all are included re: playback and noted behaviour i.e. the tail movement while lthe male "looks" for another male. The female returned approx. 0930 and likely the female calls as both are heard together (on the LNS studio equipment). 1005 hrs ended recording here. Response to playback: Approach. Response to playback: Normal song. Response to playback: Different song. Other Behaviors: Advertise, Perform Visual Display. Habitat: Cloudforest, Evergreen Forest, Montane Grassland, Thicket/Brush, Scrub.
