Observation details
I was standing at the east end of the pier, attempting unsuccessfully to take shelter behind the lighthouse when a massive storm rolled through around 2:30 PM. The Purple Sandpiper landed on the rocks in front of me and remained for the next 20 mins. Eventually I was able to take some poor photos through my binoculars with my phone. Dunlin-sized dumpy shorebird with medium length bill that was orange on basal half. Orange legs. Overall dark coloration with heavy streaking throughout underparts. Photos to be added
