NOTES: (Breeding Status: Territorial, breeding. Behav. Context: Annoyance, threat, male in his singing area (nest parasite).) This piping call is a male vocalization heard when a male is in his singing area (territorial and defending that area). We have heard it also at food sources when a male comes in repeatedly to feed at a given site. Likely assertion of dominance, at times used w/o song by primary male to push out secondary males.
