Media notes
single bird flew past making flight call (getting louder, with loudest call at 0:13 right next to recordist), landed for a brief period on twig above flooded tidal stream, then took off making flight call again (from 0:26, getting softer); sonogram shows modulations within the call note, the one at 0:13 being rise-undulate-fall, that are so quick that human ear has trouble discerning; calls are 7-8 kHz, same as Azure Kingfisher, and sonogram profiles also show similar modulations, making it difficult to separate the species in the field unless the calling bird is seen; as these birds fly so fast recordings of flight calls presumably incorporate Doppler effect
