A wintering Wood Sandpiper, initially found on 20 December 2022 by David Rankin, here photographed in flight by Curtis A. Marantz on 12 March 2023 at the Ramona Hunt Club, San Jacinto Valley, Riverside County, California.
Observation details
(we saw the wintering bird primarily on one pond in the western part of the property 8:28-9:57 am, and again, 12:55-2:22 pm at distances down to 12-15 meters; I also heard this bird giving a sharp "fui, fui, fui" call on several occasions)
