Brazilian Peppertree (Molle Costeño, iSchinus terebenthifolius/i)
Observation details
Foraging in a small Brazilian Peppertree (Molle Costeño, Schinus terebenthifolius). Bare skin around the eye white, red forehead not extending above the eye. Irregular red speckles on the neck. While watching them in the tree, I only counted four, but when they flushed, calling loudly, there turned out to be many more, at least fifteen. Photographed with my cell phone. This species now seems to be much more common than Scarlet-fronted Parakeet in this area, unlike a couple of years ago, but Red-masked Parakeet is still the number one Psittacara by far in Lima. Observed on Avenida Malecón at the gate towards Avenida El Ejército.
