Media notes
These excerpts are from an 18 min recording which ended at 6:45am. The Great Blue Herons were building nests. One would bring in nesting material and the other seemed to be placing it in the nest. Calls include those made by pair, as well as interactions between pairs, and also possibly in response to a Bald Eagle (a pair have a nest in the same patch of Loblolly Pines) who was also calling. Bill clapping, wings beating while in flight, and twigs snapping can be heard (as well as occasion distant plane and car/truck noise in the background).
Observation details
at least 8, maybe more, at 4 nests that I saw -- did not move far from where I was standing on Wildlife Drive to get a full count of birds in rookery because I was recording and did not want to disturb the birds for the sake of a count
